Hey Guatemala team!

It’s finally time to give you a few more details about your trip! This fall semester is going to be an incredible one where you’re going to see God do great things in you and in the people of Guatemala. It will be hard at times, but know that it’s all worth it. Get excited!

You guys will be in Puerto Barrios working with Shofar Ministries. Your team will have several ministry oportunities that range from anything like painting and manual work to preaching and performing dramas in schools and churches. You will have the amazing chance to work with street children and visit an orphanage…and I promise that the beautiful Guatemalan children will stay in your heart forever. There are opportunities to bring food and clothing to those living in the local garbage dumps or in the mountains as well.

There is a general packing list that can be found in your Profile by going to Mobilization Info tab and then to the preparation section. In addition to those items, we suggest you also bring:

-       Sleeping pad (ThermaRest is a great brand.)

-        Mess Kit (Just a simple camping bowl and utensil set is sufficient. You can get these at any outdoor goods stores like REI and Bass Pro Shop.)

These are already listed on the general packing list but I want to emphasize them:

-       Sleeping bag and pillow

-       Rain Jacket

-       Headlamp (flashlights are fine too…but headlamps are AWESOME because you get to have both hands free!)

*Remember that you must fit everything in your pack/suitcase and it needs to be under 50 lbs. Keep in mind that you'll be the one that has to carry everything, so if you can't carry it, slim it down. Keep it light!
